Microsoft faced a Loss of whooping $400 Million on Xbox One

Seems that all the tall claims of Xbox one being a huge profitable product are after all not true on paper. The annual earnings report for 2014 of Microsoft has a different story to tell.

Microsoft sold 11.7 million units of consoles in the fiscal year of 2014, which helped a lot in increasing the revenue, but the overall effect seems a loss. A total revenue of $1.7 billion was generated but Microsoft had to spend around $2.1 billion on production, launch and marketing.

According to the reports, the corporation had to face an earth shattering $400 million loss on their next generation gaming console. The main reason for this huge loss is cited to be the increase in production costs and advertising.

On the other hand, the biggest competitor of Microsoft in terms of gaming consoles, Sony has managed to sell more number of PlayStation consoles leading to their cash registers only ringing rhythmically.
