Wang states that this can be a temporary means to fix address the infamous shot meter glitch which has plagued the sport since release. The actual, concrete changes will be an area sometime soon.

“Tuning update (early 10/5): will ease penalties for Very Late Releases. This can be a temp band-aid treatment for Shot Meter Glitch til patch drops,” reads Wang’s tweet.

National basketball association 2K17 introduced a revamped shot meter which was drastically altered when players release shots. In the past records, releasing the ball once the meter was half-filled was a sign from the correct timing. This season, letting it go at full-capacity may be the proper method.

The shot meter glitch causes the meter to at random drop from full to half momentarily. Understandably, this will make it incredibly hard to gauge when you should release your shot. Some players have discovered some temporary workarounds to ease a few of the frustration. Reddit user Tycel suggests:

“What you will wish to accomplish is delete all of your custom jumpshots, make 3 custom jumpshots, equip one out of your inventory Go delete all of your custom jumpshots after which placed on a jumpshot that you would like and immediately visit the park. It ought to be fixed.”
